JUNE 2025

A bit of news about things happening with Multiples of America. Check out the quiz at the end for your chance to win a gift card!

A Winner!
51 members emailed their answers to the May quiz. A perfect score is not the aim; everyone who joins in the fun is entered into the drawing. The May quiz focused on world records held by mothers of multiples. The quiz answers were:

Valentina Vassilyeva holds the record for having the most sets of twins born by the same mother. She had 16 pairs of twins.

The oldest mother to give birth, Maria del Carmen Bousada Lara, gave birth to twin boys when she was 66 years old.

Barbara Zulu holds the record for having the most sets of triplets born to the same mother. She had 6 sets of triplets. (Note: Added research shared by some members who responded to the quiz found that Madalene Granata had 15 sets of triplets between 1839 and 1886.)

What is the longest time span between the birth of twins? 111 days

What is the shortest time span between the vaginal birth of twins? 22.976 seconds

Winner of the gift card drawing was Christina Pitcher, Parents of Multiples of Los Angeles (CA). Find the June quiz at the end of this email. Just click on the link and you’ll be able to answer quickly and easily on the pre-filled form!

Name Your Club’s Member of the Year Today
Shine the spotlight on someone in your club. All you have to do is submit their name as your club’s Member of the Year.

The Member of the Year is chosen by your club. It’s a chance to honor a member who has made a big difference for your club in the last year. Each club can nominate up to two members. The members and club do not need to be present at convention in order to be recognized. Members of the Year will also be recognized in an upcoming issue of Multiple Connections and on our social media. June 30 is the deadline for nominations. Submit your nomination today.

A Happy Birthday Surprise
Did you know one of the benefits of membership in Multiples of America is eligibility to apply for a scholarship for yourself, your spouse, or your multiples? It’s a members’ only benefit since only those who have been members for at least three years preceding the application can apply.

How do we fund this benefit? No, it’s not through your dues; it’s through member donations or special fundraisers sponsored by clubs or Multiples of America.

Some members say they like to make a donation to the scholarship fund in honor of a special time, such as the high school or college graduation of your multiples. Others will make a donation in memory of a family member of special friend who has passed away. Our current Scholarship Chair, Bea Reynolds, has a different idea.

Bea is our seventh president, a member of our Gemstone Group for over 30 years of volunteering, and an attendee at more than 50 conventions! She turned 92 this month, and decided to donate one dollar to the Scholarship Fund for each candle on her cake.

“So I’m donating $92.00 to the Scholarship Fund to celebrate my 92nd birthday,” Bea explained.

Happy birthday, Bea!

Find out more about donating to the Marge Ainsworth Scholarship fund, our EDGE endowment fund, or the general fund here. The Scholarship Fund and EDGE endowment fund have also been designated as our philanthropic focus during the 2025 annual convention.

First Class
You can get a first class treat for your club with one click of the ELITE renewal button!

Renew your membership by June 30 and you’ll be recognized as one of our ELITE CLUBS. That means you are First-Class, the Best, Special, Crème de la Crème, and you’ll receive special recognition on social media, at convention, and on our website.

To be honored as an ELITE club, just go to this link, select the ELITE Status button and follow instructions: https://multiplesofamerica.org/dues-renewal/

NOTE: If your club collects dues later in the year, you can renew with as few as four members, then register the others as “add-on” members once your membership drive is complete (no later than September 30). New members should also be added to your club’s membership listing year-round by submitting them as “add-on” members. https://multiplesofamerica.org/add-on/

There are 33 ELITE clubs for our current membership year, listed on our website at: https://multiplesofamerica.org/elitestatusclubs/. Can we add to that number for the 2025-26 membership year? I think we can!

Club Helpline
Read about the one thing that shouldn’t be left behind in summer, get a rundown on several deadlines for your summer calendar, and find a detailed preview of the convention workshop on improving communication and resolving conflicts in families with multiples. It’s all there in the June issue of Club Helpline. (Note: The Members Only password is needed to access Club Helpline.)
