Board News
The new Board of Directors met in the days immediately following this year’s Summit. Terri Gillis was appointed as Advisor and Kim England took on the role of Parliamentarian. We also made appointments of those who had volunteered to be National Workers for this term. We brainstormed about the possibilities for new services and initiatives for the future, and we reviewed items presented from each department to help determine steps for the first days of this term.
Even though we’ve completed our first round of appointments, there’s still time if you would like to join our team. The National Worker volunteer form is online at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MOA-NW2022
Research Study
We are assisting the State University of New York Potsdam with two education-related research studies. A Classroom Placement survey is gathering information on twins’ and triplets’ perceptions of their classroom placement. Any multiple-born child who is school-age (aged 5-18 years) may participate. A Remote Learning Survey is collecting information on parents’/guardians’ perceptions of the COVID-19 remote learning experience for their children. Any parents/guardians of school-age children (aged 5-18 years) may participate. Both surveys take only about 20 minutes to complete. And results from both surveys will be summarized and shared with Multiples of America so we can then report them to our members.
Look for the word RESEARCH under “Multiples” on the website’s main navigation bar or follow the links below to find out more about each of these surveys:

Local Clubs Leading The Way
Attendees at the Virtual Summit described some of the exciting projects taking place in their local clubs during “good of the order.”
Kathryn Behling, Lowcountry Parents of Multiples (SC), shared how her club is working to complete an annual philanthropic project. The project assists the Lowcountry Period Project in assembling period packs filled with menstral hygiene supplies for young girls in their area. The packs are donated to schools, shelters, and clinics.
April Henkel, Sonoma County Mothers of Multiples (CA), shared how her club holds a bi-annual member clothing & supply swap. Members sort through their households to find kids’ clothing and supplies that they are no longer using, bring those to the swap, then get to exchange the outgrown items for outfits that are just the right size! Items that are left over at the end of the exchange are sold at a garage sale, with the profits going to the club.
Lorena Melcher, South Jersey Mothers of Multiples (NJ), shared how her club hosts an annual party in a park to celebrate New Jersey Twins Day. This year’s party included crafts, snacks, playground fun and more, and gave parents a “reminder that they’re not alone.” The event was open to the public and siblings of multiples were also invited to attend. The club finds the event not only leads to an increase in their membership, but also an increased awareness about the world of multiple parenting.
