TITLE OF STUDY: Parental Stress: A Comparative Study of Single and Multiple Birth Children with Autism
PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR: Damion Garcia, Psychology M.A. student
UNDER THE ADVISEMENT OF: Nancy Segal, PhD, Director Twin Studies Center
PARTICIPANTS NEEDED: Mothers and fathers of identical and fraternal twins, where one or both twins are diagnosed with autism. Parents of single birth children diagnosed with autism are also invited to participate. Parents must be at least 18 years old.
LOCATION: United States
PURPOSE OF STUDY: Parents of children with autism experience higher stress levels than parents of neurotypical children, and one in 36 children were diagnosed with the disorder in 2023. The purpose of this study is to examine parental stress levels of caregivers who have children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
METHOD OF INVESTIGATION: Parents will take an online survey about parental stress, specifically stress related to parenting a child with an autism diagnosis. The survey will take about 15 to 20 minutes to complete.
