Partnership Power
The partnerships that Multiples of America builds with other non-profits help connect parents with services beyond our member benefits. Many of these are focused on expectant parents and parents with multiples needing special care. In this issue of Club Helpline, we are shining the spotlight on our partner, Graham’s Foundation. Check the “When Complications Arise” page on the website for brief summaries of the services of all our partners.
Graham’s Foundation
Graham’s Foundation is a non-profit providing education and support for preemie parents. Parents can receive one-on-one support from parent mentors, or connect online through social media. A special MyPreemie App helps parents track preemie feedings, keep a list of questions to ask the NICU team, make notes, chart preemie’s growth, keep mementos and more. The app is free and available in English and Spanish. Other Resources specific to parents with babies born prematurely include a series of articles with tips for before birth, in the NICU, and after the NICU and a series of “Preemie Talk” videos. Topics include: “18 Things You Might Not Know About Premature Birth,” “8 Thoughtful Things to Say (and Do) for Parents of a Premature Baby,” “Finding Premature Childcare,” and “Early Intervention 101.”
Upcoming Great Expectations Multiplied Online Seminars
Mon., Oct. 13 – Easing Into Multiple Parenthood & Transitioning from the NICU
What will it be like those first few months home with multiples? Will there be endless nights of never getting a wink of sleep? What will help smooth the transition home if my babies have been in the NICU? During this seminar, Twin Specialist Smadar Zmirin will help prepare expectant parents of twins for the ongoing multitasking, the logistics of caring for two (or more) babies at once, and optimizing the physical living environment to reduce anxiety, stress and unnecessary clutter.
And watch for these upcoming seminars…
Wed., Nov. 5 – Nutrition for Newborns & Growing Multiples with Divya Codoso
Tues., December 16 – In the NICU with Stephanie Ernst
Tues., January 20 – Sleep for Newborns with Smadar Zmirin
Registration begins about four weeks before each event, and seminars begin at 7:30 pm Central (8:30 pm Eastern, 6:30 pm Mountain, 5:30 pm Pacific). A link to a recording will be made available for 7 days following each event for registrants who are not able to attend on the date/time of the seminar.
Participants in each event will be entered into a drawing for gift cards. The Great Expectations Multiplied initiative is partially funded through a grant from the Prolacta Bioscience Foundation.
