Parliamentarian: Your Best Lifeline for Support

As a leader in your local club, you know how challenging it can be to keep club business running smoothly. At Multiples of America, we’re with you and your members every step of the way. We can help ensure your club’s business is run in a way that is fair, just and effective!

One of the greatest ways we can help you is giving you access to our parliamentarian, who is experienced in rule-following and general business procedures. According to the National Association of Parliamentarians: Parliamentary procedure defines how a democratic organization works, how its members make decisions, how its leaders run the organization to meet the needs of its members, and the rights of members and non-members.

Here’s a small sampling of the many ways our parliamentarian can support your club:

• Interpret your club’s current bylaws, standing rules or procedures.
• Offer consultation on a specific issue your club is facing.
• Guide you on how to use written rules to help during a conflict or other challenging situation.
• Give advice on updates to your club’s bylaws or standing rules.
• Ensure your club’s bylaws and standing rules don’t directly contradict Multiples of America’s bylaws or standing rules for clubs that file under our 501(c)3 tax filing.
• Help you maintain ‘good standing’ within your club and with Multiples of America.
• Teach you how to use a consent agenda format for business meetings, future planning or discussions.
• Offer tips on how to ensure your club’s business is handled confidentially, consistently and appropriately with the board or all voting members.
  
  

All your contact with our parliamentarian is completely confidential, and they remain objective. The parliamentarian offers you advice and options. They may make a recommendation, but all decisions at the local club level are made by the presiding officer or board of directors for your club. The parliamentarian is knowledgeable about Roberts Rules of Order, Newly Revised, the authoritative guide to parliamentary procedure for anything not specifically addressed in your bylaws.
